Happy May! What lovely summer-y weather!
I started this page on Derby Day, Saturday May 6, 2000.
I took about 30 pictures that day. I'm NOT going to
post them all!
I added some more of them on July 3. Click thumbnails to see full size.

Oops! How did this 1975 shot of Joe get in here?
<giggle>
|

|
Here's Joe now, with his new horse, "Doc".
He points to his rump and he turns on the forehand. What a horse
trainer! p.s. note dorsal shading...

|
Amir doing his favorite thing. Eating. This time,
it's clover.
|

|
An attempt at posing Doc.
|

|
"Hey, Amir!" "Huh?"
|

|
Let's get Doc's face this time ... or, "Joe with his
mini"
<ducking and running>
|

|
The Arabs believe that the white "star" is the
thumbprint of Allah. Amir Halam = Arabic for Prince of
Sweetness, and he surely is a sweet little horse.

|
Second, here's Bailey proving you can do a lot of misleading
things with cameras. For this demonstration, he shows how he can
disguise himself to look like a sooty buckskin. No flash was
used. Amazing, huh? You can see his "real" color
above.
|

|
Doc's body is going pretty much pale beige all over now. I
hope you can see it here. He still has some "winter
white" hair on his belly, etc. (The pink skin on his nose is due to
his large blaze.)

Although this cocked-hip picture does not show off his
conformation very well, it DOES show the darker top line, which I
assumed was just counter shading, as it lacked the sharp edges common
with a dun-type dorsal stripe. It bleached away a month later in
the sun, revealing a grey dorsal stripe...dun type! Also, though I
saw no evidence of leg barring as his summer coat first came in (left),
that showed up a month later, too. Sorry about the dirty tail and
stockings.

Thanks again to my beloved son for
scanning!
